Rogue Wave Software continues to increase commitment to supporting the CentOS open source software (OSS) package with the first accepted patch to the CentOS code base. The Rogue Wave CentOS development team made its first contribution to the CentOS community: fixing a signal handling issue within the RRDTool. Underscoring the commitment to open source, Rogue Wave supports CentOS, along with other top OSS enterprise packages.
The Rogue Wave CentOS team applied their expertise to address a long-standing issue where the strace command killed the rrdcached process. Quickly solving the problem, the patch was first made available to Rogue Wave customers via a secure repository. The team also submitted the fix to the CentOS community for inclusion into the code base.
“With the fix accepted by the RRDTool package maintainer, any CentOS or RedHat user that's using version 1.5.x or higher by compiling from source can reap the benefits of our contribution,” says Richard Sherrard, director of product management at Rogue Wave Software. “A bonus for our CentOS 6 and CentOS 7 support customers is that they can obtain RPMs of RRDTool 1.5.6 and 1.6.0 directly from our SpaceWalk repo, allowing them to install the binary package without worrying about installing outside the system package manager. While the update is available immediately through us, it will be included in the next CentOS and RedHat releases when they update their published RRDTool package to 1.5.x or higher.”
With guidance, training, and solutions to troubleshoot issues and optimize deployments, as well as competitive pricing, the Rogue Wave dedicated, independent CentOS development team provides support across an organization's entire stack and provides hotfixes and patches from its own CentOS repository. The Rogue Wave CentOS Linux support extends to development teams to provide the expertise and experience necessary to deploy and maintain critical production systems.
