Survey of OpenLogic Expert Community Shows Open Source Developers Are Positive On Draft 3 of GPLv3 Despite Some Concerns About Provisions

BROOMFIELD, Colo. April 13, 2007 -OpenLogic, Inc., a provider of enterprise open source solutions encompassing hundreds of open source packages, today announced the results of a survey regarding the most recent draft of the GPL v3. The survey shows that OpenLogic Expert Community members, who are leading committers and contributors of open source products, are positive about the most recent draft of the GPLv3. 71% of respondents who currently use the GPL v2 said they would support moving projects they work with to the GPLv3 when the final draft comes out.

The poll was conducted with OpenLogic Expert Community members in the days following the release of draft 3 of GPLv3. Forty-five Expert Community members corresponded, many of whom participate in more than one open source project.

In summary, the poll found that OpenLogic Expert Community Members are positive on GPLv3 despite concerns about some provisions.

Among Expert Community respondents who voiced an opinion, 3 to 1 believe that GPLv3 is good for open source.

However, respondents also have concerns about provisions of Draft 3.
