OpenLogic Survey Highlights Enterprise Perspectives on Using Open Source Software for Cost Savings

BROOMFIELD, Colo. November 4, 2008 - OpenLogic, Inc., a provider of enterprise open source software solutions encompassing hundreds of open source packages, today released the results of a poll of enterprise IT buyers who expressed growing interest in using open source software to help save money.

On Wednesday, October 29, OpenLogic conducted a webinar entitled "Navigating the Economic Downturn: Strategies for Cutting Costs with Open Source," In which participating enterprise IT buyers were asked their views on a number of subjects.

"What we found in our small poll is consistent with what we see in the marketplace—that a vast majority of enterprises are taking a hard look at expanding their open source usage—especially in areas such as application servers and web servers, databases and development tools," said Kim Weins, senior vice president of marketing at OpenLogic. "More than 75% of enterprises have already started or are seriously considering expanding their open source usage to help save money."
