Rob Balgley
Rob Balgley has twenty-five years of business management experience in high technology. Rob currently serves as Chairman and CEO for Skyetek, a company that provides advanced RFID readers. Prior to Skyetek, Rob was CEO and President of Jabber, Inc., a provider of instant messaging and collaboration software where he successfully tripled revenues and led their entry into the open source space. Prior to Jabber, Rob founded and served as CEO and Chairman of Wireless Technologies, Inc. (WTI). In the fifteen years prior to WTI, Rob built a successful career in the communications technology industry, holding executive management positions in sales, marketing, corporate development and operations for companies such as General Electric, 3Com, GeoVision and Hughes Aircraft. Rob studied Communications Science at SUNY Albany and Drew University from 1975-1979.
Rod Cope, CTO and Founder
Rod founded EJB Solutions in 1998, later renamed to OpenLogic, to provide enterprise grade tools and solutions that remove barriers to effective software development and deployment. His extensive knowledge and experience with open source has culminated in a suite of products that enable enterprise control and reduce programmer pain when using and deploying dozens of popular open source technologies.
With 20 years of experience developing enterprise software solutions, Rod has provided technical leadership on significant projects for companies such as IBM, Anthem, Ericsson, Ford, Goodyear, Integral, CourseNet, and Digital Thoughts.
Rod is a Sun Certified Java Architect and routinely speaks at technical conferences such as Java Symposia and the O'Reilly Open Source Convention. Rod was selected as one of the Top 10 presenters at JavaOne 2005. He holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Software Engineering from the University of Louisville.
Steven L. Grandchamp, President and CEO
Steven L. Grandchamp has over twenty-five years of experience in the software industry, where he has served in executive roles for both vendor and IT customer organizations.
He was formerly President and CEO of Information Management Research where he led the company's move into Enterprise Content Management. Prior to that, he was Vice President and a principal shareholder at American Fundware, where he was responsible for the company's software development effort. Steven was also a founding partner of Formation Technologies Inc, a software company for the banking industry that emerged as a leader in the loan origination segment.
Steven also held various senior management positions with Microsoft including the application development segment of Microsoft Consulting Services. Steven spent the early part of his career in progressively responsible IT roles in the banking industry.
Carl Ledbetter
Dr. Ledbetter joined UV Partners as an Information Technology partner. Prior to joining UV Partners, Dr. Ledbetter was Senior Vice President, Engineering/Research and Development at Novell, Inc. and was responsible for Novell's Venture Fund. Earlier in his career Dr. Ledbetter was President of AT&T's Consumer Products Division, CEO of ETA Systems, CDC's supercomputer subsidiary, corporate vice president and General Manager of Sun Microsystems' PC Networking division, Director of IBM's Kingston Laboratory, and a dean and professor of mathematics at Sonoma State University and Wellesley College. Carl earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from Clark University, his master's degree in mathematics from Brandeis University and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Redlands.
Kip Myers
Kip Myers is a partner with Red Rock Ventures. Prior to Red Rock, Kip was a partner in Vanguard III, IV and V over a fourteen year period. Previously, he was founder and vice president of engineering and marketing at Plexus Computers. Kip also co-founded Onyx Systems. Earlier he served as an engineering manager at Zilog. Kip earned an M.B.A. and a B.S.E.E. from U.C. Berkeley.
Mark Soane
Mark Soane is a founding member of Appian and serves on its investment committee. He currently represents Appian on the board of Cadre Technologies, Inc., a Colorado-based company. Previously, as a managing partner of Quest Capital Partnership, he has served on the boards of several Colorado-based firms, including Voyant Technologies (now Polycom), Datria Systems, Pixxures, Ischemia Technologies and Active Education. Earlier in his career, Mark held senior operating positions with Multum Information Services, Inc., Trade, Inc. and Personics Corporation. Mark is a member and the current Chairman of the Colorado Venture Capital Association. He graduated from Dartmouth College with Highest Distinction in History and holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Business School.
Bob Suh
Bob is the founder of OnCorps, a boutique technology fund seeded by Accenture management. He is the retired chief technology strategist for Accenture. In this role, he served as the chief strategist for the firm's $11 billion global software, systems integration, and technology consulting business. At Accenture, Bob led the firm's entry into software-as-a-service and open sourcing and helped cultivate the firm's technology presence in China. He was responsible for technology M&A, building partnerships with public and private technology companies, and founded and chaired the firm's council of 250 chief information officers. Prior to Accenture, Bob was a division president at Perot Systems, reporting to Ross Perot, and helped take the company public. Bob is an Overseer at the Boston Museum of Science and a member of the Dean's Alumni Council at The Harvard Kennedy School. Bob was named one of the Top 25 consultants in 2005 and holds a masters degree with a concentration in political economy from Harvard University, where he studied under the 2005 Nobel Laureate in Economics, Tom Schelling.
