Kubunjtu (KDE desktop instead of the frustrating Gnome desktop found on Ubuntu) is much easier to use for previous users of Windows.

In fact, it can be set to act almost identically to MS Windows, if so desired.

I did the experiment with myh 8 year old daughter with Kubuntu.

She fared much better than the aforementioned girlfriend.</description>
